Street Maintenance

The Street Maintenance Division has the responsibility for maintaining the condition and ensuring the safety of the public streets, alleys, and rights of way. Fill out the form to Report a Pothole.

  • General maintenance, such as pothole patching, crack sealing, asphalt paving, and asphalt rejuvenation
  • Street cleaning
  • Snow and ice removal from streets
  • Alley grading
  • Leaf collection
  • Unplugging drains or sumps
  • Stormwater drainage facility maintenance
  • Street construction projects
  • Chip sealing
  • Maintenance of State routes within the city
Functions Not Under Street Maintenance Responsibility
The Street Maintenance Division does not do the following:
  • Pick up dead deer - Call Allied Waste (BFI) at 406-543-3157
  • Service street lights - Call Northwestern Energy at 888-467-2669
  • Report abandoned vehicles - Call the city police at 406-523-4777
    • They will need color, make, and license number of the car
    • Maintain traffic signals, traffic paint, or traffic signs - Call Traffic Services at 406-552-6372
    • Maintain city trees - Call Urban Forestry at 406-552-6270
