OFFICE HOURS & APPOINTMENTS

The City Attorney's Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. To meet with an attorney or staff member an appointment is required a minimum of 24 hours in advance.

SERVICES

The City Attorney's Office is legal counsel for the City of Missoula and serves as legal adviser to the Mayor, City Council, Boards and Commissions, staff, the Missoula Housing Authority, and the Missoula Urban Transportation District. The office is also responsible for prosecuting misdemeanor state and ordinance violations committed within the Missoula city limits.

The civil work performed includes defending the City in litigation proceedings as well as providing legal advice to the Mayor, City Council, City administration and all City departments with respect to contracts, ordinances and other matters.

Prosecution services is responsible for prosecuting misdemeanor criminal and ordinance violations filed in Missoula Municipal Court. City prosecutors strive to fairly, efficiently, and justly prosecute misdemeanor offenders and, to a limited extent, counsel and assist victims of crime in an effort to make the City of Missoula a safer community.

By law the City Attorney's Office is prohibited from giving legal advice to the general public.
