Energy Conservation & Climate Action in Missoula
The City of Missoula has a long history of conservation and climate action-related commitments, planning and work. Energy conservation and climate action activities maintain progress in the City's commitment to the triple bottom line: People, Planet, Prosperity.


In order to achieve these goals, the City of Missoula has taken several formal steps to form measurable objectives including:

City Staff - Energy Conservation Coordinator
The Energy Conservation Coordinator works across all departments to coordinate implementation of the Conservation & Climate Action Plan and integrate concepts into municipal operations, infrastructure and services. Further plan implementation support and progress review come from the CCAP Technical Advisory Team made up of four Mayor appointees and four City Council appointees from the Energy and Climate Team,  

In addition, the Energy Conservation Coordinator serves as the City's representative and resource for community outreach, collaboration and engagement on energy conservation, climate action and sustainability efforts.  

 The City of Missoula's energy conservation and climate action goals include:
  • Reduction of energy and fuel consumption
  • Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
  • Reduction of building operating costs
  • Promoting public and environmental health
  • Promoting green jobs and green economy
  • Providing community leadership by example
  • Partnering with others to enhance opportunities for community-wide energy conservation and climate resiliency planning
