Allison Mouch, the current president of the Western Central Chapter of the American Planning Association, presented the award to Mayor John Engen and Dan Cederberg, a member of the Downtown Master Plan Implementation Committee, at an award ceremony at the Missoula Art Park on October 6, 2017.

The American Planning Association award honors neighborhoods that demonstrate “exceptional character, quality and planning,” crediting Missoula’s planning efforts with creating a renaissance downtown, drawing people to the city’s central downtown and residential area with pedestrian-oriented improvements and an abundance of public events.
