Construction is progressing on Beartracks Bridge in Missoula the week of November 1.
Crews are working on the east sidewalks of Beartracks Bridge. Concrete for these sidewalks will be poured on the south end of the bridge with minor concrete finish work taking place underneath. Sections of the bridge deck will be checked for smoothness. General site cleanup is also taking place throughout the work zone.
A process called straight edging will be conducted on the bridge deck. The surface of the deck will be checked for smoothness with a long straight edge. Any high spots will be ground down until the surface is flat.
Crews will also take care of some general site cleanup throughout the work zone.
A 21-ton weight restriction remains in place. All vehicles weighing more than 21 tons will need to take alternate routes. Digital message boards have been replaced with hard-sided road signs to provide advance warning of the weight limit and indicate alternate routes for overweight vehicles.
Remember the three S’s of work zone safety: speed, space and stress. Slow down when approaching work zones and follow posted speed limits. Leave adequate braking room between your vehicle and the one ahead of you. Keep your cool, pay attention, and plan for delays.
