The City of Missoula will hold a celebration of life for Mayor John Engen on Saturday, Aug. 20, at 10 a.m. at Ogren Park at Allegiance Field, Missoula's civic stadium. The celebration is open to all. Gates open at 9 a.m. Mayor Engen died Monday morning, Aug. 15, of pancreatic cancer. He was 57.
Speakers for the celebration of life for Mayor John Engen will be U.S. Sen. Jon Tester; former Montana Gov. Steve Bullock; former Missoula Mayor Mike Kadas; former U.S. Congressman Pat Williams; Carol Williams, former Montana legislator and the first woman to serve as Majority Leader in the Montana Senate; Susan Hay Patrick, CEO of United Way of Missoula County; Donna Gaukler, Director of Missoula Parks and Recreation; and Mike Bellusci, Mayor Engen's close friend of many years. Music will feature the Big Sky Mudflaps.
We encourage you to arrive early to ensure an orderly entrance to the stadium. Parking is available at the stadium, but it is limited. Parking is also available at McCormick Park. We encourage cycling, walking and transit; Mountain Line bus routes are nearby.
For those unable to attend, the event will be streamed on Missoula Community Access Television online at https://mcat.org/watch/local-live/ and will be available later recorded on the MCAT website.
