McKinley Lake Dam Decommissioning Project Presentation

The City of Missoula’s Public Works & Mobility Department and Missoula Parks & Recreation, along with public and private partners, are hosting an informational public meeting on Wednesday, March 15, starting at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers. Project leads will present proposed plans for decommissioning the City-owned dam on McKinley Lake in the Rattlesnake Wilderness and National Recreation Area.

Topics to be discussed include the following:

• brief history of the wilderness lakes and dams,
• project goals,
• why McKinley Lake was chosen as the pilot project,
• what work will be done and how it will be completed,
• next steps, and
• a project timeline.
