Informational Discussion about Proposed Music Festival at Playfair Park

Dear Neighbors,

Always On, LLC is proposing to bring a music festival to Playfair Park in July 2024 or 2025.  In light of this, the promoter will host an open discussion on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. to present a logistically focused presentation on relevant event details such as neighborhood disturbance, traffic mitigation, sound mitigation, trash cleanup, neighbor and park user group impacts, life safety & risk, local economic impact, community & financial benefits, and a synopsis on turf repair at Playfair Park, amongst many other details that are meant to inform the community of all event planning measures that have been implemented thus far.

This is not a City of Missoula or City Council-sponsored event and is being solely funded and administered by Always On, LLC. The presentation will begin at 4:35 p.m. and will be held at City Life Community Center (1515 Fairview Ave in the Student Center).  It is encouraged to attend in person but there is also a Zoom option. PLEASE CLICK HERE TO JOIN ON ZOOM AT 4:35 PM

After the presentation, there will be time to answer as many questions as possible, as they directly relate to the event’s operations and the planning process. Questions related to the City of Missoula government will not be addressed at this forum and can be answered at the City Council committee meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 8.

The goal is to create a dialogue with the community and field any questions or concerns as it continues through the planning and approval process.

I look forward to talking with you.

Thanks,

Scott Osburn

Details about the Process

  • The event company Always On, LLC has proposed hosting a music festival in Playfair Park starting in 2024.
  • Since this would be a large event held over several years, it needs approval from the City Council.
  • Council members have asked Always On to hold a community meeting to explain the event details and answer questions from neighborhood residents.
  • The next step is for the Climate, Conservation and Parks (CCP) Committee to discuss the proposal at their meeting on Wednesday, November 8.
    • The CCP Committee is a smaller group of City Council members who review city business before it goes to the full Council.
    • Check the City's website after November 6 for the time of the November 8 CCP meeting and how to attend in person or online.
    • The public can comment on the proposal at the CCP meeting.
    • You can also email comments anytime to council@ci.missoula.mt.us.
  • At the November 8 meeting, the CCP Committee will either:
    • Send the proposal to the full City Council for a final decision.
    • Hold more Committee meetings to discuss the event further.
  • The Council talked about the music festival idea at an October 25 CCP Committee meeting. You can read the minutes or watch the video of that meeting online.
