The Our Missoula: Growth Policy & Code Reform project, led by the Community Planning, Development, & Innovation Department (CPDI), is an extensive planning process that will work with the community to update Missoula's vision for future growth and to modernize the City's development regulations, one of the key tools for achieving this vision.

Opportunities to Get Involved

The City of Missoula hosted three Community Growth Policy Workshops in December to launch the update to the Growth Policy. The information and activities provided at those workshops are now available on the Our Missoula website!

The Growth Policy influences how Missoula's built environment looks and feels, including all of the places we live, work, and play. Input from the community is crucial to ensure that the Growth Policy captures a shared vision for the future of Missoula. Your input will help the City confirm how well the current Growth Policy captures our community values and if we need to update our vision.

Visit the Growth Policy Update page to learn about how the Growth Policy shapes the land use process and why the City of Missoula is updating the Growth Policy right now. Then, help us determine what residents value and prioritize in their neighborhoods now and in the future by completing the activities! Show us what you love about your neighborhood on the Neighborhood Values Map; tell us your vision for the future with the Fill-in-the-Blank activity; and share what values are most important to you on the Vote on your Values survey. Find out more and share your thoughts here!

Legislative Updates Impacting Engagement

During the most recent legislative session, the State of Montana passed Senate Bill 382, or the new Montana Land Use Planning Act. As a result of the bill, the emphasis of public participation will shift to be during the planning and adoption of the land use plan and regulations, rather than during site-specific projects, many of which will be reviewed administratively following the bill. Because of this shift, community input on growth and development is critical during the Our Missoula project.

Upcoming Events

This month, the City will host public events centered around a fun and engaging scenario workshop that will ask community members to reflect on how they prioritize their values throughout the City. More information will be available on the events page soon!
