North Hills Froehlich Trailhead temporarily closed May 16 for park maintenance

Parks and Recreation will close the North Hills Froehlich Trailhead and parking lot at Orange St. and I-90 on Thursday, May 16, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a park maintenance operation. The closure will protect public safety as crews use heavy equipment and multiple vehicles to remove debris and hazardous materials from abandoned campsites.

Encampments are removed when they represent significant health, safety and environmental risks to campers and park users. Individuals who had previously been camping in the area received ample prior notice and assistance from the City's Homeless Outreach Team to access alternative shelter and other services.

Hikers may access the North Hills at the Waterworks trailhead on Greenough Dr. The Froehlich trailhead will reopen when the cleanup is completed or by 3 p.m.
