Traffic Signal Installation at Orange St. and Cregg Ln. Begins July 8
Minor, Intermittent Traffic Delays Expected
The City of Missoula’s Public Works & Mobility Department, in consultation with the Montana Department of Transportation, will begin installing a traffic signal at the Orange St. and Cregg Ln. intersection beginning July 8, 2025, with completion expected the end of September.
Once installed, the new traffic signal will provide safer, more efficient access to Orange St. from Cregg Ln. With the construction of new housing along Wyoming St./Cregg Ln. came an increase in area traffic. The Wyoming St./Cregg Ln. route is an important corridor for connecting Russell St. to Orange St. and downtown Missoula. The project also includes Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant sidewalk and signalized pedestrian crossings, improving safety and accessibility for all users.
Construction will take place Monday through Friday during “off-peak” traffic hours, which is 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Two-way traffic on both Orange St. and Cregg Ln. will be maintained throughout construction. However, at certain points during the project, traffic on Orange St. will be narrowed from two lanes down to one lane in each direction. Sidewalk and bike lane closures also will be necessary, but routes across the Orange St. bridge and around construction activities will be provided with signs posted. We encourage travelers to take alternate routes to avoid the construction area when possible.
Additional project information and construction updates, as needed, will be posted on the City website at www.ci.missoula.mt.us/2839/Transportation-Projects.
