Happy New Year!

We're sending out a new newsletter to share more information about MRA Board meetings. We're calling them "Quick Takes" because they will be short summaries of the meeting that will be sent out before the full minutes are available. Take a look below at the projects that were presented at the December meeting:

1234 South 3rd Street West – Request to Proceed Without Prejudice

What it means: The Applicant would like to begin constructing a 9-unit residential building with the assumption that they will be applying for MRA assistance in the future.  This allows the Applicant to keep available crews working during a typically slow holiday period, then put in a formal request for assistance after work begins. This Board approval does not guarantee future funding from the MRA.

How much money was approved: None. The applicant will need to return with a formal request for funding in the future.

What will it pay for: Not applicable.

Who’s the Applicant: Edgell Building, Inc.

Who’s the MRA Project Manager: Michael Hicks

Status: Approved

Next Steps: The Applicant will return at a future MRA Board meeting to make a formal request for funding.

More information: Read the full Board Memo about this project. Learn more about URD II or learn about what kinds of things qualify for funding.

North Reserve-Scott Street URD Plan Amendment, Resolution of Intention – Request for Approval

What it means: As called for in Land Use Plan and Urban Renewal Plan goals, the North Reserve-Scott Street Urban Renewal District may be expanded upon request by the property owner to include property that will be annexed into city limits. All property owners in the current Urban Renewal District will be notified of the expansion and there will be a Public Hearing as part of the process. There will also be an update to the North Reserve-Scott Street Master Plan.

How much money was approved: None.

What it will pay for: Not applicable.

Who’s the Applicant:  Not applicable—the URD has not been expanded yet. The MRA Board must direct staff to initiate the amendment process, which will then go to City Council for approval.

Who’s the MRA project manager: Michael Hicks

Status: Approved Recommendation to City Council for Adoption

Next Steps: A tentative schedule has been published to Engage Missoula which includes notices for a public hearing.
