The City of Missoula seeks public comment on environmental cleanup alternatives for the Opportunity Resources Inc. (ORI) property located at 901 South 3rd Street West, Missoula, Montana.
ORI intends to clear the site to allow for redevelopment that will include new commercial space and an approximately 24-unit affordable housing complex.
The City has prepared an Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) that presents a summary of known environmental conditions on the site, an evaluation of cleanup alternatives, and a proposed remediation plan that will serve public interest and protect human health and the environment.
The City will use funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to cover the full remediation costs related to cleanup of hazardous building materials and lead in soils.
Members of the public can review the ABCA online for a 30-day comment period from November 18, 2023, to December 18, 2023.
The City encourages the public to review the proposed plan and ask questions or provide comments. Public comments will be considered when selecting cleanup methods and a contractor.
