Duncan Drive Trailhead Parking Lot Now Open!Duncan TH 2

Improvements to the Duncan Drive Trailhead parking lot have been completed, and it's now open to the public. Below are some tips to keep in mind when visiting the trailhead area:

  • Parking lot snowplowing:  Winter maintenance (plowing) of the parking lot will be limited and based on staff availability and weather conditions. Parks & Recreation prioritizes areas with heavy public usage, such as Currents Aquatics Center, sidewalks, and commuter trails in the downtown core. If the parking lot is not plowed, we encourage users to park in the current overflow parking on Duncan Dr.
  • Stay on finished surface areas: Users are asked to drive and walk on paved or gravelDuncan TH 1 surfaces ONLY to protect the recently seeded areas. Areas of topsoil around the new parking lot can be very soft when conditions are warm and the ground is wet or thawing.
  • Use official trail only: Visitors to the area are not allowed on NorthWestern Energy's maintenance access road. Watch for signage directing you to the open, accessible trail.
  • More improvements are coming!: Interpretive kiosk panels will be installed in late 2025 to early 2026, and additional trail construction will be completed early next spring to complete the 1-mile accessible loop trail down to the old Rattlesnake Dam site.
