CityCard Resident Discount Program
What is the Resident Discount Program?
- City residents contribute directly to Parks and Recreation's programs and services through city taxes. The Resident Discount Program offers city residents reduced rates on recreation and aquatics programs.
- The City Council established the program in Spring 2006 through the adoption of the Parks and Recreation master fee schedule.
Who is eligible for the Resident Discount Card?
- Residents living within Missoula city limits are eligible. Please note that a Missoula mailing address doesn't necessarily mean you live within city limits. Not sure? Call us at 406-721-PARK (7275).
How much does the card cost?
- New cards: $2 each
- Annual renewal: $1 per card
- Each family member who wants the discounted rate needs their own card.
How long is the card valid?
- Cards are valid for the calendar year, from January 1 to December 31. Call 406-721-PARK (7275) to renew your resident discount card annually.
Where can I get a Resident Discount Card and what should I bring as proof of my address?
- Cards are available at Currents Aquatics Center's customer service desk.
- Please bring proof of city residency, such as a current utility bill, cable or internet bill, pay stub, cell phone bill, or voter registration card. Give us a call at 406-552 PARK (7275) if you have questions.
- Please note: Driver’s licenses are not accepted as proof of current residency because they may show an outdated address. While drivers are required to notify the DMV when they move, they are not required to obtain a new license reflecting the updated address. We require current proof of address to apply the program fairly.
How much of a discount do cardholders receive and what programs are eligible?
- Cardholders typically receive an average of about 20% discount on eligible programs.
- Most recreation and aquatics programs are eligible, but some exceptions apply, such as programs with sliding fee scales or those run by contracted providers.
Do I need the card to register for Parks and Recreation programs?
- No, the card is optional. You can still register for programs without it, but you'll pay the regular non-resident rate.
How do I use my card when registering?
- After you've purchased the card, the resident discount rate will automatically apply during registration.
- For admission discounts at Currents Aquatics Center or Splash Montana, show us your card, or we can look it up in your online registration account.
Why don’t county residents receive the resident discount?
- County residents contribute to a number of shared community amenities, including Fort Missoula Regional Park, the Missoula Public Library, and other county or regional services.
- City recreation and aquatics programs, however, are funded differently. These programs are supported in part by City of Missoula property taxes, which is why the resident discount applies specifically to city residents.
- We appreciate the shared investment that both city and county residents make in the community, and non-residents are always welcome to participate in Parks and Recreation programs at standard rates.
What if I have questions about my residency status or need more information?
- Contact Parks and Recreation via email or phone 406-721-PARK for assistance.
How can I stay updated on Parks and Recreation programs?
- Sign up for our newsletter for occasional programs, projects, and special events updates. New subscribers are entered into a monthly prize drawing!
