Citizen Academy

Citizens' Law Enforcement Academy
The Missoula Police Department has hosted a Citizens' Law Enforcement Academy (CLEA) since 1993 inviting local citizens, business owners, fraternal organization members, etc. to participate.

This academy includes an overview of our department's activities including presentations from officers about our many programs including, but not limited to:

In addition, we try to provide some hands-on applications for our participants including a ride-a-long with officers and a training simulator application.

The response to the CLEA has been phenomenal, and we have had very positive feedback from our participants. This eight-week program has provided Missoula citizens with a realistic view of their Missoula Police Department's activities, challenges, and accomplishments.

We are currently accepting applications for our upcoming Citizen's Academy.  The 2018 session will start on Jan. 10th, 2018.  It will be held on Wednesday evenings from approximately 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will run for 8 weeks.

Here is the link to apply online to attend the Citizen's Academy. You must also fill out this Liability Waiver and return it to the police department. Optionally you can scan the Liability Waiver and email.  Your application will not be considered complete until the Liability Waiver is received.  See our press release for further.
