PLEASE WATCH FOR SIGNS AND SLOW DOWN ON MULLAN ROAD. Highway patrol crew members are present. Fines double for traffic violations in the work zone. Thank you for your understanding as we work to keep everyone safe!
 
School is in session! Please be mindful of traffic, bicyclists and children in the area.
 
Please plan ahead and avoid left turns from Flynn Lane onto Mullan Road. We encourage you to use Mary Jane Boulevard and Broadway or England and Reserve to travel east.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:
  
 
Mary Jane Boulevard North
A majority of the Mary Jane North project improvements are complete for this construction season.  The remaining scope will be focused on the back side of the curb and gutter.
 
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) has a separate project on West Broadway, and crews are working on the installation of a signal at the intersection of Mary Jane Boulevard and West Broadway. The MDT project also includes improvements at the intersection of Flynn and West Broadway, which will require traffic control along West Broadway.  Please follow traffic sign information for detours and local access. Please drive the posted speed limit and watch for workers and equipment near the roadway. 
 
Mary Jane Boulevard South & Roundabout
The detour was removed on Mullan Road and all traffic is on the roundabout. In addition, work continues north of the roundabout. The roundabout and access to Mary Jane will be complete this fall, and the roadway will be fully opened to traffic later this fall. Click here for image

George Elmer Drive & Roundabout
George Elmer Drive between Mullan Road and Bell Tower Road remains closed through the end of construction season for roundabout installation. The first phase of paving has been completed. This week, drivers will be directed to use the westbound lanes of the roundabout while paving takes place on the eastbound lanes and the access road south of the roundabout. In the coming weeks, as work is completed in this area, the roundabout will be fully opened, and the frontage road detours will be removed.  George Elmer will be fully opened to traffic later this fall after completion of necessary activities.
 
England Boulevard
Shaping and grading of the existing ground has now begun, along with the placement of geotextile and subgrade material. This is in preparation for curb and gutter work. The roadway improvements along England Boulevard between George Elmer Drive and Flynn Lane may be completed as soon as this fall depending on weather and other factors.  If England Boulevard is complete this fall, it will be open to traffic this winter.
 
General Updates
As just mentioned above, the two roundabouts on Mullan Road are nearing completion! Roundabouts move traffic efficiently. As a reminder, please slow down, yield, and look left when approaching the roundabout. Drivers within the roundabout have the right of way. Once clear, enter the roundabout. Prior to exit, put your blinker on to indicate to other drivers where you intend to exit the roundabout. The idea is that movement occurs continually through the roundabout to keep traffic flowing. 
 
Please prepare for 10-20 minutes of delays when traveling through any of the above work zones.

Missoula County, the City of Missoula, and contractors have partnered with Kiewit Construction to complete the Mullan BUILD project, which is anticipated to be substantially completed by the end of 2022. The work includes infrastructure and roadway construction of Mary Jane Boulevard South, Mary Jane Boulevard North, England Boulevard, George Elmer Drive, and two roundabout intersections along Mullan Road (Mullan/George Elmer Drive and Mullan/Mary Jane Boulevard).
