Climate Resilience

Missoula is experiencing the effects of a changing climate including hotter, dryer summers, more intense wildfires and wildfire smoke, more precipitation falling as rain instead of snow, and extreme weather patterns. As our community and the world at large work to curb the emissions responsible for our changing climate, we must also face the reality that we are dealing with those effects now.

The City of Missoula and its partners are working on programs to ensure that Missoula is prepared for, able to respond to, and able to recover from climate-related events. This work includes assessing the risks and vulnerabilities within our community, developing response plans, implementing projects and programs, and ensuring equitable community engagement so that all voices are heard and considered.
